ABOUT JUSTINE

Justine Leahy is a BAFTA-winning Line Producer with more than 25 years' experience in production across high-end factual, feature documentaries and scripted drama.

Justine is currently working in-house with Disruptive Element Films, a UK and Thailand-based production company and creative studio led by BAFTA-winning writer and director Tinge Krishnan. The company is developing a slate of genre films spanning action, martial arts, science fiction, psychological thriller and horror. Tinge Krishnan's directing credits include A Thousand Blows (Disney+), Unaccustomed Earth (Netflix), WeCrashed (Apple TV+), Industry (HBO) and The Mosquito Coast (Apple TV+).

Justine is currently Line Producing Nak Muay, the first feature film in the company's slate, with principal photography commencing in August 2026 on location in Thailand. Set within the visceral world of Muay Thai, the film features globally renowned fighters and combines authentic martial arts with emotionally driven storytelling. Nak Muay is a powerful exploration of resilience, redemption and the true purpose of martial arts.  The story centres on Yod, whose transformative relationships with the strong women around him are interwoven with his journey as a Muay Thai fighter, grappling with the meaning of his craft and his own moral compass following a devastating personal breakdown.

Justine's recent credits also include Pile Up: World's Biggest Crash Test (Creative Scotland / Channel 4 / PBS NOVA, 2025), where she served as Line Producer on a world-first engineering experiment recreating a catastrophic motorway pile-up. The production brought together more than 110 cameras and crew, cutting-edge engineering technology and a high-end unscripted budget to deliver groundbreaking scientific insight into multi-vehicle collision dynamics.

Justine also Line Produced Cassius X: Becoming Ali, a feature documentary for the Smithsonian Channel that received a UK-wide theatrical release. The film was directed by Muta'Ali Muhammad, an award-winning and NAACP Image Award-nominated filmmaker whose credits include Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn (HBO), Life's Essentials with Ruby Dee (BET), the Gracie Award-winning Hear Her Voice (ABC), and producing credits on Soul of a Nation, Juneteenth: Together We Triumph, and After Floyd: The Year That Shook the World.

Earlier, Justine Line Produced Eden for Channel 4, leading the production from extensive development, technical recce, and site builds, through six months of filming and transmission. This ambitious, multi-million-pound social experiment followed participants living entirely offgrid, cut off from the world.  Located in Scottish wilderness over the course of a year this show was a a huge technilogical challentge,  required an extensive fixed-rig infrastructure alongside complex logistical planning. The production was described by NEP UK as its "most ambitious fixed-rig production ever."

PHILOSOPHY

At the heart of my production style is a deep respect for creative collaboration and strategic thinking. I believe that great ideas deserve both structure and freedom. My role is to build the bridge between the creative and the practical, translating vision into tangible results on screen.

I thrive on ideation and problem-solving — finding smart, efficient ways to bring complex concepts to life without ever losing sight of their heart. I approach every challenge with curiosity, logic, and a love of storytelling.

Communication sits at the centre of everything I do. I value openness, respect, and clarity across departments, knowing that the best work comes from teams that feel informed, empowered, and creatively connected. My aim is always to foster environments where talent at every level can do their best work — where ideas spark, momentum builds, and the creative truly comes to life on screen.
